A multi-layered exhibition consisting of a world constructed by artist Deniz Barlas Velioğlu by colliding visual and written layers and compositions created by Yüksel Demir through this world

During Deniz Barlas Velioğlu's long, intense period in the advertising industry, a short vacation she took with the stress accumulated in working and city life awakens the artist in her; a world where visual and written layers intertwine on newsprint emerges. Through this world and story, Yüksel Demir takes on all these emotions expressed by the artist and transforms them into music, and an album - Yaratıklar - is born that conveys Deniz Barlas' creative process.

Newspapers at that time represented everything that I couldn’t escape but reacted against: Everyday, mundane, mundane, corrosive, competitive, noisy world. And a thought began to take shape in my mind. Maybe I couldn’t escape this world, but I could build my own world on it, in spite of it.
— Deniz Barlas Velioğlu
The visual-written language I develop consists of two basic layers: Printed materials, mostly newspaper pages, and what I fictionalize on them. The dialog/clash of these two worlds, which may have limited meanings on their own, gives rise to ‘surplus meanings’.

YARATIKLAR ALBUM

"This exhibition needed its own music, not an eclectic playlist. I asked Deniz to give me one night off for the opening music and I saw him off. Maybe he was expecting some kind of DJing, a playlist, but I was going to surprise him. Because what had happened had happened and now I was filled with the desire to make original music with the feelings he had conveyed to me. After Deniz left, I didn't sleep and worked until I finished the music. My music consists of four parts that convey the creative process Deniz went through: Work-power (escape), the shore, inspiration and creatures... "
