Focusing on the secret and open relationship of art and architecture with power, this seminar will address the connections between artistic production, subject, public space and the city, as well as the links between art and architecture with politics and society.
Lesson 1:
In the context of “subject”, “aesthetics” and “humanism,” the ideological structure of “art” will be discussed and comments will be made on how these relations are stretched and redefined according to “new” ideological situations.
These interpretations will especially cover the situations where the concept of "humanism" turns into "trans-humanism" and "post-humanism," while the relationship between "subject" and "art" will be brought up in the context of technology.
Lesson 2:
The relationship of cities and architecture to the "public" policies will be discussed, and this relationship will be interpreted through the concept of "power" from ancient times to this day..
How a plural publicity is manipulated with the methods of power, and how this is reflected in the city will be discussed through various examples.
