GENÇ MİMARLAR SEÇKİSİ
The multi-disciplinary selection commitee of the first edition of GEMSS, which consists of professional architects as well as artists, academicians and business representatives from the sector, selected 14 architects among 106 highly qualified applications. Selection focused more on the overall production of architects rather than the seperate projects and a great “diversity of production / action areas,” of projects were noted during the selection, as were a large number of architects “developing a unique expression,” and “producing value beyond established expectations and practices.”
GEMSS selection brings together projects that are well aware of the connection between architectural practice and ecological, social and cultural sustainability, that attach importance to the environmental ethics and sensitivity, that depend on both the local and the universal sources and contribute to the architectural culture in a practical, academic and artistic sense. In this way, it provides a comprehensive view of today’s architectural practices that will shape the future of architecture.
