Instructor: Işıl Baysan Serim
In this seminar series, we will discuss how the films form and turn into images the utopia, dystopia and heterotopias that make up the archive of architecture of modern and postmodern times. The program includes readings that allow us to trace the discursive, social, political, economic and technological developments that determine the structure of the relationship between cinema, architecture and city.

Week 2: The Fragility of Modern Utopianism: City Distopias in Cinema
Week 3: City Heterotopias from ‘Indefinite-Spaces’ to ‘Non-Spaces’
Week 4: Digitopias and Digital Heterotpoias: Cities Born out of the Screen
